What a wonderful shot! I'd never seen one at all before yesterday, visiting my aunt in the far south suburbs, by lots of forest preserves and meadows. Truly, it's the most beautiful insect I've ever seen. You did a very nice job with this picture. Thanks for capturing this moment, with this beautiful insect.

Thanks! Takes a lot of patience and hoping I caught it. I have a better one than this one too. I think they are so cool!

Yeah I can sometimes "stop" hummingbird wings but so far not the moth's wings!

Look around in the bright sun in the afternoon around vervain, verbana, honeysuckles, phox and butterfly bushes or any plant with a deep flower-they are common through out the US.

They seem to really like purple, red and pink flowers.

I was lucky enough to get a shot of this strange little moth once, but yours is better!

Thanks!

They are hard to get a focus on-cos they never stay still enough...I'm going to try some more tomorrow. The only one I have in focus is the one I actually caught and found out they have no tolerance for cold.

Thanks! That's actually a moth not a hummingbird-it's a moth that looks and behaves like a hummingbird. Which is really cool!
